Nature of Work

Full-time faculty in the English & Humanities department with primary teaching emphasis in English and related areas as assigned by the Dean. The faculty member participates in the department and the institution’s communities of learners to foster a culture of inquiry, critical self-reflection, evidence-based decision making, and a learner-centered environment.

Examples of Work Performed

Instruction and assessment of classroom-based and/or online courses for majors and/or non-majors, academic advising, service on departmental and/or campus-wide committees, original research and/or creative activities.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in English or related field (Candidates who are ABD will be considered)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching writing at the college level and ability to teach college writing across multiple levels/abilities.
• Ability to teach one or more of the following areas: Elements of Literature; Multi-Ethnic Literature; Gender, Sexuality, and Literature; Native American Literature; or World Literature.
• Ability to help with the Writing Center OR teach one or more of the following courses: Intro to College Writing (Transitional Studies Program), Technical Writing, Introduction to Creative Writing, Advanced Creative Writing (Prose Fiction or Nonfiction), or Grammar & Linguistics.
• Ability to create and teach courses in support of CSC’s Essential Studies Program, especially integrated, multi-disciplinary courses and courses that focus on global contexts and diverse perspectives.
• Knowledge in the use of technology, including online learning and multimedia enhancements and open education resources.
