|Nature of Work||
Graduate Assistants are hired at Chadron State College to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for CSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of CSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and to assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.
|Examples of Work Performed||
Responsibilities include but are not limited to assist Head Athletic Trainer with:
Coverage of assigned sports’ practices and games home and away, including setting up, pre- and post-game treatments, response to injuries through field evaluations and first aid (this will include weekends and possible holidays)
Perform injury evaluations of athletes
Communicate with athletes and coaches about the injury and the athlete’s participation status
Implement rehabilitation protocols for injured athletes
Arrange and administer Impact Testing
Arrange and communicate medical appointments between physicians and athletes.
Help with record keeping and documentation for files
Assist with daily functions of the Athletic Training Room
Assist with overseeing and teaching work study student first responders
Other duties as assigned
Completed Bachelor’s degree
Conditionally accepted or accepted application to the CSC graduate program
Knowledge of first aid, taping and bracing techniques, familiarity with and ability to use therapeutic modalities, knowledge of injury evaluation and rehabilitation techniques
Ability to work on the Chadron State College main campus
Ability to travel with assigned teams
National Athletic Trainer Association Board Certification
Successful applicant must obtain Nebraska State Licensure for Athletic Training prior to employment start date
CPR/AED Certified for the Professional Rescuer
Valid driver’s license
Satisfactory background and driving record check
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and with others
