Job Title Graduate Assistant (Science)
Nature of Work

Graduate Assistants are hired at Chadron State College to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for CSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of CSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and to assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.

Examples of Work Performed

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist faculty where the need is greatest between biology, chemistry, geoscience, or physics, with consideration given to knowledge background
• Assist faculty with lab assembly and disassembly
• Assist in laboratory sessions as needed, assisting students, answering questions, and aiding in learning experiences, under the direction of a faculty member
• Maintain office hours weekly to assist students
• Possible assistance with faculty grading
• Possible assistance with designing/writing of laboratory experiences
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Completed Bachelor’s degree
Conditionally accepted or accepted application to CSC graduate program
Successful background records check
Work on the Chadron State College main campus

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in science field with significant coursework in biology, chemistry, geoscience or physics
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety considerations
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills

Physical Demands
Salary Information $3,200 per semester and tuition waiver - does not include student fees
