Nature of Work

Full-time faculty in the Music department with primary teaching emphasis in Percussion and related areas as assigned by the Dean. The faculty member participates in the department and the institution’s communities of learners to foster a culture of inquiry, critical self-reflection, evidence-based decision making, and a learner-centered environment.

Examples of Work Performed

Teach applied lessons, direct a small ensemble, instruct classroom-based and/or online courses for music majors and/or non-majors, provide academic advising, serve on departmental and college-wide committees, perform as soloist and/or collaborative musician

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus significant work towards Doctorate in Music (ABD) or related field; earned Doctorate required for tenure
• Strong background in percussion at the collegiate level
• Experience in teaching and in scholarship and/or creative activities

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Music or related field
• Experience teaching drum set in a variety of styles
• Experience teaching concert and marching percussion
• Strong background in jazz studies with some professional performance experience
• Ability to perform as a soloist and in faculty ensembles
• Ability to direct bands and small ensembles
• Ability to teach additional courses within the major degree programs
