Job Title Director of Housing & Residence Life
Nature of Work

The Director of Housing & Residence Life is a member of the Housing & Residence Life senior leadership team and Student Affairs Department. The Director of Housing & Residence Life is responsible for coordination and delivery of a high quality housing program for on-campus resident students.

Examples of Work Performed

Essential Duties:
1. Program Operation.
A. Housing & Residence Life
1. Overall responsibility for the coordination and deliverance of a housing program for resident students
2. Evaluate and assesses College housing occupancy, retention and projection trends
3. Establish and implement protocol related to applications, contracts, waivers and withdrawal procedures for residence halls and apartments
4. Establishes long range planning goals; represents the department and establishes a collaborative relationship with the College departments
5. Provides fiscal management for department budget
6. Manage housing database, StarRez, computer module which includes staff training and maintenance of the program
7. Oversees the room assignment and billing processes to be sure they are completed and communicated to students
8. Direct responsibility for the systems of selection, supervision and training of Residence Life staff. Coordination of deliverance of programs and services for the development of the resident students with the Assoc. Dir. of Housing & Residence Life and the Assoc. Dir. Of Residence Life
9. Oversees the overall policy, initiation and enforcement with the Assoc. Dir. of Housing & Residence Life and the Assoc. Dir. Of Residence Life, regarding rules and regulations of Chadron State College and the State Board of Trustees and the State of Nebraska
10. Administers the discipline process with the Senior Director of Student Affairs and Residence Life staff
11. Serves as a member of the Behavior Intervention Team
12. Serves on-call weekends and evenings during the academic year
13. Coordinates with the Vice President of Administration & Finance in planning, maintenance and repairs of current and future campus housing facilities
14. Collaborates with the campus security staff, the Chadron Police Department and the Senior Director of Student Affairs to provide safety of housing students and security of campus housing facilities; oversight of the door access program
15. Works with the Coordinator of Conferences, Athletics and maintenance departments in the coordination of housing for conference or summer camp participants
B. Resident Student Activities
1. Review management systems with the Assoc. Dir. of Housing & Residence Life and the Assoc. Dir. Of Residence Life for effective program delivery
2. Oversees the development of a campus-wide activity program
3. Monitors requests for expenditures in Residence Life Programs; oversees, with the Assoc. Dir. of Housing & Residence Life and the Assoc. Dir. Of Residence Life, the funds received from Student Senate for programming
2. Supervision of professional and support staff within the department
Secondary Duties:
1. Coordination of activities with colleagues/agencies
2. Other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree
Experience in administration of housing in higher education, administrative abilities and human relations skills

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment.  Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.

Salary Information $58,087 commensurate with qualifications. Excellent Benefits package
