Job Title Academic Advisor
Nature of Work

Advises students concerning an appropriate academic schedule, choice of major, number of hours that may be taken, probation, and/or suspension. Contact may be on individual or group basis or be made by correspondence.

Examples of Work Performed

Essential Duties:
1. Assist all student with enrollment and financial aid services
2. Serve as primary point of contact for student issues related to enrollment and financial aid
3. Provide academic guidance for all students upon request, including pre-Admissions
4. Advise financial aid and academic probation/suspension students on structured course scheduling
5. Serve as academic advisor for all BA Interdisciplinary Studies and BAS degree seeking students
6. Assist students with forms completion and serve as forms repository for student services with dissemination to appropriate offices
7. Act as content manager for assigned websites.
Secondary Duties:
1. Assist with assessment requirements
2. Collaborate with departments regarding enrollment and financial aid services/activities
3. Collaborate with departments/faculty regarding changes/updates made to published programs and plans, etc.
4. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Student Services or related field
Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency in computer applications
Experience in higher education academic advising is beneficial

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment.  Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
